All I Want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas is World Peace. Well not really, but Santa dear, that’s the big present I want. I also want more Love, Joy, Beauty, Adventure, Abundance, and Celebration. My list is even longer than that, if you have the time to read it. No, I’m not a greedy girl, Santa! I want all of these things for everybody. But what I really want this year, most of all, is World Peace. Can you please bring it to me this year? Can you? Can you?

Santa (trying valiantly to not roll his eyes) scolds me, “Every year you ALL talk about it at Christmas time. Peace On Earth! Pshaw! As long as I’ve been in the biz, people have been asking for it. You’re nothing new. Why should I especially grant you such a wish? You are just one in billions!”

Then Santa asks me to lean in so he can whisper in my ear, and he tells me a secret. We can’t just ask or wish for World Peace to appear under the tree. It’s not something that some company manufactures and we can buy it with money. And he hates to admit it to me (shh!), but even he cannot deliver it! We actually have to claim it, and create it together. We have to choose leaders who are on our side, and if they’re not, they are out on their ears! We also have to make peace for ourselves, with ourselves, with family we may not get along with, with our neighbors, and on it goes… Mending fences, making peace. Peace rippling outward until it becomes a gargantuan wave rolling around an increasingly beautiful world that WE create!

Sounds too simple, right? Not really. Waves of thought can change things in extraordinary ways in a nano second.

So I ask you, will we ALL choose World Peace for 2025? I don’t know about you, but it’s all I really want this Christmas.

Realizing Your Potential

Do you honor that which is crying out to be expressed in you? Do you arise to greet the days with excitement? Are you living a life that fulfills your innermost talents and desires, one that gives you joy? Or, do you work at a job that does not challenge you to pay the bills, and fill your leisure time with activities that feel even emptier?

These are very big (and frankly hard) questions, ones that you might be avoiding. If your answer is “I drag myself to my job”, it can be a thorny reality check. But wait! Do you think that your beautiful soul really came here to simply to wither on the vine?

Waking up and honestly addressing what is making you unhappy is the first important step towards changing it. It’s just too easy for us to gloss over what feels overwhelming, or numb the discontent with small superficial pleasures. Big change requires small steps. The good feeling you get from even one initial change grows into desire to do more. What can you change today that would move you a step closer to living a life that makes you feel fulfilled?

Society can make it tough to embrace our possibilities. From a young age and as we assert our individuality, we are told “no” quite a lot. “Learn the rules, accept your limitations, and strive to conform.”

Here is a dream that we can dream together for the world’s future: What if our society and education systems were geared to nurture the unique talents in each of us? That is, the innate creative intelligence with which we are each born, and our desire to express it fully. Just think of the world that we could build!

The Power of Love

Love is the force that draws us inexorably together, the glue that will not allow us to give up on each other. It is our greatest challenge and biggest source of miracles. Infinite love already exists in everything that is alive, including you and me. Our love lessons are about removing the obstacles to love. They teach us out how to access, express, and live it. That is, if we choose to learn.

Do you realize? Your love gives you immense personal power to change the world. The mass media news is too often rife with division, hate, and fear. Some people just wait and hope for an external power or institution to cure the big problems of the world, because the events feel too big and out of their control. They will have a very long wait.

Consider that perhaps the high tension in the world right now is a challenge to each of us to work on unlocking our own love. Together we could collectively unleash a world of love that has never been seen before. It begins with each of us, with one random act of kindness, a single word of compassion, a step upward on the stairway of understanding.

It’s one bit of love at a time. It ripples outward and builds. It comes from you and I, and anyone else who chooses to participate instead of just complaining about how bad things are. It’s what the ancient Greeks called “agape”, a selfless love for humanity, and the world sorely needs more of it.

Adopt a global consciousness. Choose to be a living example of love, compassion, and understanding. Work to bridge the divides you encounter. As Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Is a genuine smile a form of love we give to someone else? I think so…

Smiles

Smiles have
this way, they
captivate and
illuminate,
they raise up
our energy
and light up
the world,
the ripple
outward and
boomerang
back to us,
they’re a gift
we give to others
and to ourselves,
so just –

Smile.

You Are Big

We live in a world where there are those who would do anything to make us believe we are small, our potential limited. Nothing could be further from the truth.

You are big.
You are part of everything.
Your potential is infinite.
Or, as Rumi so poetically put it,
“You are the universe in ecstatic motion.”

Living Life with Gratitude

Do you live each day of your life fully? We know we are mortal and life will sometime end, but we still tend to live as though we’ve been given an endless supply of days. The seconds, minutes, and hours tick away relentlessly. Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Each day is a gift, and the present moment is the only certain one. There is beauty and sacredness to be found in every single day, when we choose to live that way. It’s the small things all around us all the time that give life its true magic.

Intentionally taking notice of life’s beauty makes life feel infinitely richer, and when we express gratitude for it, we also amplify our abundance. That which we focus on expands, so more comes back to us in an upward positive energy spiral of our own making.

Never underestimate the power of gratitude! It is an attitude that shifts everything in its path. Life immediately becomes bigger and full of possibility with gratitude.

If you are not already doing so, there is no time like today to begin fully immersing yourself in life! Don’t miss out on anything that you could enjoy, embrace, love, or learn, every single day from now on. Wring every beautiful moment out of life that you can, because it will fly by faster than you might ever imagine.

You may well ask, “How exactly does this help the world?” People can feel your happiness and the fulfillment of your soul. You will be a conduit of positive energy and inspire others, therefore helping to uplift humanity and create a better world.
