Living Life with Gratitude

Do you live each day of your life fully? We know we are mortal and life will sometime end, but we still tend to live as though we’ve been given an endless supply of days. The seconds, minutes, and hours tick away relentlessly. Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Each day is a gift, and the present moment is the only certain one. There is beauty and sacredness to be found in every single day, when we choose to live that way. It’s the small things all around us all the time that give life its true magic.

Intentionally taking notice of life’s beauty makes life feel infinitely richer, and when we express gratitude for it, we also amplify our abundance. That which we focus on expands, so more comes back to us in an upward positive energy spiral of our own making.

Never underestimate the power of gratitude! It is an attitude that shifts everything in its path. Life immediately becomes bigger and full of possibility with gratitude.

If you are not already doing so, there is no time like today to begin fully immersing yourself in life! Don’t miss out on anything that you could enjoy, embrace, love, or learn, every single day from now on. Wring every beautiful moment out of life that you can, because it will fly by faster than you might ever imagine.

You may well ask, “How exactly does this help the world?” People can feel your happiness and the fulfillment of your soul. You will be a conduit of positive energy and inspire others, therefore helping to uplift humanity and create a better world.

Inspirational Gratitude Quotes:

“Being grateful does not mean that everything is necessarily good. It just means that you can accept it as a gift.” ~ Roy T. Bennett

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” ~ G.K. Chesterton

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” ~ Maya Angelou

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.” ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero

And to finish, I send a wish of Happy Thanksgiving to American readers celebrating your big day of gratitude today!

Our Natural Life Rhythms

Our cats, who like to arise around 5 a.m. every day, remind everyone in our household that there are Earth rhythms. I’ve come to the conclusion that they hear the first bird’s chirp way before we do. The remarkable thing is, they and the birds are accurate within minutes of the hour, every single day! The animals are very tuned into the Earth’s daily cycles.

With eyes half open, sun soon to rise behind me, moon saying hello (and soon goodbye) over yon rooftop, I let them out to survey their garden territory. It gives me pause to think, how many of life’s natural rhythms are we missing out on, every single day, as we run around like mad people being slaves to the clock?

Yes, I hear your retort already… We need clocks to get to our jobs, keep our lives organized, get things done. Indeed. But the next point I will make is, when we’re not tending to those essential tasks that need doing, how many precious “real life” moments are being stolen by the technology that lives at the end of our wrists? That technology is also stealing our health.

Did you know? The Earth’s “heartbeat” (called the Schumann Resonance) is an electromagnetic wave that circles her circumference, and it is closely connected to (and communicates with) our brains.

This from a Gizmodo post, The Earth has a heartbeat we can see from space:

“The wavelength is the circumference of the earth (or twice the circumference, or three times, or four, and so on). This means that the troughs of these waves will always line up, as will the crests. When crests combine, they get bigger. And with lightning hitting the earth over four million times a day, these waves keep getting the boosts they need. The waves don’t sweep across the surface of the earth. Instead they’re like standing waves, that just pulse at their troughs and crests – a resonant heartbeat.”

The Schumann Resonance (the base atmospheric electromagnetic resonant frequency is 7.83 Hz) is closely in sync with our Alpha brain waves (8 to 12 Hz). Alpha waves “are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts, and in some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning.” (From What are Brainwaves? – Brainworks, Train Your Mind.)

The scientific study of the full effects of interference with the Shchumann Resonance ELF waves on our well-being is still in its infancy. But, studies to date suggest that when human vibration is out of sync with the Earth’s resonant heartbeat, we are not in a prime state of health. There are many articles outlining the interference and possible detrimental effects played by our synthetic technologies.

There are also theories that staying in alignment could play an important part in the future expansion of our collective human consciousness. The heartbeat of the Earth is connected to us in ways that are only starting to be understood.

Do you notice how you feel when you spend too much time around TV, computers, cell phones, etc? (They are sucking the life force out of us!) Comparatively, the next time you’re out in nature, really tune in to how the images, colors, and sounds are affecting your mind and body.

Our cats would tell you, listen to the Earth’s heartbeat. Nature is communicating with you, so get to know and feel her language. Whether you realize it or not, she is calling you back to your organic essence.

Wholly

Living life wholly, fully, completely,
is a process of learning,
with full awareness
and reverently,
for life IS holy –
I don’t mean religiously,
but yes, spiritually,
and respectfully
of All of Life,
not sacrificially
of yourself,
your own soul,
your learning,
but cooperatively
with humanity,
compassionately,
understandingly,
gracefully,
lovingly,
becoming
wholly
One.

Eternal Rhythm

Eternal Rhythm

The golden leaves fall,
fearing not the decay of
a coming winter.

Death is essential
to the renewal of life –
All will spring again.

If each in nature
can feel this simple rhythm,
so can humans too.

Why do we resist?
Our fears overshadow the
truth of our being.

But the fall leaves know,
they show us that we too will
green the tree anew.

Eternal Rhythm is from Soul Journey: The Poetry of Life. This post is a nod to All Souls’ Day (also known as The Day of the Dead), celebrated by many this weekend. They say the veil is very thin on Hallowe’en. Certainly I have had my own personal undeniable encounters with spirits who still linger.

Remember the ones you love, yes, but resist becoming trapped by the sorrow of their leaving. Celebrate life, always.

Tick-tock Madman

That round evil man
with his shallow pretty face
leers from my wall.
Cruelly and incessantly,
he chips away at my life
with his sharp little pick-axe.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

My days mete out
in an endless dribble of
tasks and responsibilities,
and he watches me.
Be on time, get it right!
Get up again, do it again.
and again, and again, and again.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

I thought he was my friend
that insidious little man,
Mom said he was!
Just dress for success,
always be on time,
and your life will be right.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Then one day I woke up
and my life felt all wrong.
Where are my dreams
you cunning little man?
You stole them while
I toiled to your

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Oh poacher of my hours!
Is there time for me?
Still hope for me?
The Me you took while
I played by the rules,
always obeying time.

And that smug little man
with his false pretty face
just stares coldly at me
from his unfeeling wall.
Silent he is, but for
the relentless

Tick-tock, tick-tock.
