Wishing You Joy

This Holiday Season, these are my wishes for you, today and the whole year through:

Love that overflows the brim of your cup, a sharing of Goodwill with family, friends, and your community, and abounding Peace to fill your heart and home.

And last but not least, I wish you Joy ~ that your soul may feel free to express the Infinite Light within you.

These wishes are for everyone on this day of light called Christmas.

“And heaven and nature sing…”

Joy

Resonant ringing,
reverberates, repeating,
radiant rippling.

The Trip

We arrive
with no luggage
and leave with
none too,
so why do we
spend a lifetime
accumulating
mere things?

To prop up
our egos,
and relieve
our boredom,
to salve our
hurts, and
impress the
neighbors.

Within the
glorious potential
of the soul’s
quest, we lay
waste to what
could have been
for the next
new toy.

The kids
fight over the
treasures
left behind
by their parents,
thinking that the
having is some
kind of victory.

But the wounds
inflicted in the
fight for more
are baggage of
a different kind,
ones that can
cross over if we
don’t take care.

Traveling light
and loving well
are the real
accomplishments,
and as big as
they are, they
pack small
for the leaving.

The Peace Button

There’s no special
button for peace,
just waiting to be
pushed by some
leader who feels
entitled to make
global decisions
for the future of
all humankind.

Such buttons are
reserved for war,
“Why, I wonder?”
Perhaps it’s so we
the people could
see and understand,
and simply start living
the peace we desire,
starting now.

When we commit to
creating that world,
finally we’ll realize
that we do not
need any leaders
who would choose
anything but peace,
and war will die,
instead of people.

Seeing

Beauty beholder,
open your eyes wide, look deep.
It’s everywhere.

The Offering

The little girl
offered her mum
the flower, a
token of love,
innocence free
of any labels,
expectations,
rules, and
boundaries.

“That’s not
a flower, it’s
a weed! You
don’t give
that to people,
we kill it,
it makes the
lawn ugly,
throw it away!”

Heartbroken,
the little girl
retreated to
her room, not
understanding
why her mother
could not see
the beauty of
her offering.

Years passed,
the girl grown up,
obeying the rules,
prepared to spray
the hated yellow,
so the neighbors
would envy her
pristine grass.

Feeling a tug
on her sleeve,
she turned to
scold her young
daughter for
interrupting this
urgent work,
couldn’t she wait
just a minute?

Her daughter’s
expectant smile,
with little hand
clasping a sad
drooping flower,
“Let’s save this
one, Mommy”,
transported her
back in time.

These days
dandelions live
wild and free
in this front yard,
shouting out
in happy yellow
to all who’ll listen,
transforming a
world of rules to
a journey of joy.
