Gaia Awaits You

Gaia, the Earth Goddess

I step from boat to island shore
and she waits for me,
her warm, soft breeze
caresses my cheek,
her lush, verdant scent
fetchingly whispers.

She seduces me.

A gleaming azure sky
calms my agitated mind,
her supple trees drape
the curving roadside,
a satin emerald cloak
befitting the Goddess.

She shimmers for me.

Brilliant sunlight dances
on a turquoise ocean,
waves glittering with diamonds
invite me to play,
graceful sea birds soaring above
call me to be free.

She shines for me.

Exotic languorous lizards
ancient as all time
meander lazily on my path,
scoffing at all clocks,
coaxing me to relax into her
warm, tranquil rhythm.

She soothes me.

Time slips away and
becomes meaningless here,
she feeds my soul
with her enduring grace,
her heart beats to mine
and mine becomes hers.

She saves me.

Simplicity’s Wealth

Life in modern society has a high price tag of stress, long work hours, broken families. Many of us are discovering that our lifestyles are not giving us quality of life. Our value systems are very broken.

It’s time to adopt a simpler, yet richer, way of living. As Henry David Thoreau said, “Simplify, simplify.”

Seeing Beauty

In our world and society today, it can be very easy to be blind to the wide variety and depth of beauty surrounding us. Firstly, our society tends to create tight definitions of beauty.  Secondly, we are deeply distracted by our technologies.

Beauty is everywhere, and nature is a wonderful teacher for seeing it. She hones our ability to see, “seeing” being a very different thing from “looking”. When we truly see something, we enter the realm of feeling it too. Walk in nature and practice seeing. A whole world of beauty will then gradually reveal itself to you, everywhere.

"Beauty surrounds us, but ususally we need to be in a garden to know it" Rumi

Show Me the Magic

“Where is the magic?” This is a question I often asked myself while tramping along the same dirt road in Australia to get my daily exercise. I was feeling very lost, not geographically, but rather, internally. I was on a spirit quest.

There is magic, but one must be observant and intentional. The next step for me was, “Show me the magic.” When I passionately asked and intended to find the answer, it finally came. Surprise, surprise, the answer did not come by way of my cell phone or the internet. Nature showed me the way…

Moments are Pearls

As with love, our happiness expands when we remove the conditions we attach to it. “I’ll be happy when…”

Yes, you likely will be, if that condition is your deep heart’s desire. But what if that certain condition does not come to fruition? What if that magic moment doesn’t arrive? And all those potential other magic moments while you were waiting for happiness to begin dissolved into the sands of time, unnoticed and unexplored.

The moment is now to claim your happiness. Happiness is a decision to see life in a certain way, knowing that every moment of it is a gift. Make the most of every pearl.
