Dwell on the Beauty

Take at least a few moments today to dwell on the beauty of life. It’s all around us, all the time, but we are often too overcome with our personal daily work and problems or the ugliness in the news to notice it.

“Take time to smell the flowers” is such a well-known phrase, I suppose it may be almost cliche. However, how many of us actually live it? Intentionally taking notice of life’s beauty is a regular habit we would all benefit from cultivating.

Life is a precious gift. When we notice the beauty and feel gratitude for it, we are essentially saying thank you for that gift. Gratitude is a great amplifier. That which we focus on expands and ripples outward.

Not only do we give ourselves a much needed healing elixir, but we raise our vibration and people around us feel it. Just one more seemingly small way (but it’s huge!) that we can heal the world around us.

Inspirational Quotes:

“To do the useful thing, to say the courageous thing, to contemplate the beautiful thing: that is enough for one man’s life.” ~ T.S. Eliot

“Unexpected intrusions of beauty. This is what life is.” ~ Saul Bellow

“At some point in life the world’s beauty becomes enough. You don’t need to photograph, paint, or even remember it. It is enough.” ~ Toni Morrison

“Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.” ~ Rumi

“All the variety, all the charm, all the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow.” ~ Leo Tolstoy

“You must give everything to make your life as beautiful as the dreams that dance in your imagination.” ~ Roman Payne

"Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running from them." Marcus Aurelius

Nature’s Path

Let us begin today to erase illness as a way of thinking, something that now dominates our every waking hour. Let us rather embrace nature as our tonic, that which exists to cradle and nurture us.

Let us make wellness our new way of being…

Inspirational Quotes:

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

“The mountains are calling and I must go.” ~ John Muir

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity” ~ John Muir

“In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.” ~ John Muir

“Few people know how to take a walk. The qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence and nothing too much.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The health of the eye seems to demand a horizon. We are never tired, so long as we can see far enough.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“But if a man would be alone, let him look at the stars. The rays that come from those heavenly worlds, will separate between him and vulgar things.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Awakening Humanity

The current awakening of humanity is an opening of hearts and minds. We are standing on the threshold of a new era, but we must first say no to an old paradigm that just isn’t working for us any more, in so many ways…

What do you do see around you that is failing? Where will you put your mind to create the new reality? For indeed, your mind is part of a greater whole (humanity) that decides in what direction our world will move.

Inspirational Quotes:

“All knowledge that the world has ever received comes from the mind; the infinite library of the universe is in our own mind.” ~ Swami Vivekananda

“Doesn’t it seem to you,” asked Madame Bovary, “that the mind moves more freely in the presence of that boundless expanse, that the sight of it elevates the soul and gives rise to thoughts of the infinite and the ideal?” ~ Gustave Flaubert

“Push yourself to do more and to experience more. Harness your energy to start expanding your dreams. Yes, expand your dreams. Don’t accept a life of mediocrity when you hold such infinite potential within the fortress of your mind. Dare to tap into your greatness.” ~ Robin S. Sharma

Thank you, Mr. Sun

The Summer Solstice is coming up soon. (Yay!) The sun has taken some real bashing the past few years over the dangers of over exposure. But as with everything in life, it’s all about balance. After all, how can something that is so life-sustaining be all bad? These articles agree on many reasons to make sure you get enough sunlight:

From Forbes: Why Sunlight Is Actually Good For You
From Self: 6 Reasons You Need More Sun, According To Science
From Healthline: The Benefits of Vitamin D

Gratitude for that which nourishes us

Gratitude is an amplifier for abundance. Yes I know, you may be thinking… “It’s the sun’s job to be up there in the sky, keeping me alive! So just do your job, Mr. Sun. I have enough to worry about.”

But wait. When we take a few moments in our day to say “thank you” here and there, life starts to feel better. We become more consciously aware of the good. We feel blessed. And there’s another big bonus. Metaphysically speaking, the universe also responds by sending us more.

Heaven knows, the media is always there to remind us of the bad or troubling. It’s our job to fill our minds and souls with the good stuff too. Balance keeps us healthy. So, next time time you step outside into sunlight, stop for just a moment and practice this. Close your eyes, tip your face upward, and feel the blissful warmth.

As you do so, think to yourself, “Ah, yes… Thank you, Mr. Sun. You are one of those things, constant and true, that I can count on to make me feel good.”

Our Big Opportunity

A little over a year ago, we all walked through a doorway of opportunity. That seems like a very odd thing to say, yes? How can there be opportunity in having life as we know it suddenly washed away in a global tidal wave of change? It quite frankly has been shocking.

You and I and everyone else on this planet have been thrust into an unexpected journey. This is where we are and what will we make of it? Denial will not make it go away.

Human beings are amazingly resilient and resourceful when put to the test. This may well prove to be the biggest test we have ever undergone as a collective.

As I observe my friends and family, I see various ways people cope. More exercise (endorphins are real mood-lifters!), bridging connections online (our contact with other humans are important to our happiness), coming up with new ways to be creative, productive, and adapt.

Now is the time to see of what we are really made. We are being challenged and stretched. We each must dig deeper to discover new attributes that we did not know we possessed. We in essence are searching for the best stuff in us.

Leaving one’s safe zone has a way of doing that. I love this quote from Walt Whitman’s poem, “Song of the Open Road”:

“I am larger, better than I thought,
I did not know I held so much goodness,
All seems beautiful to me.”

Life on this planet has been brought into sharper focus. The superficial veneer of society is being shattered with a huge invisible pick axe. It is inevitable that we will go deeper, because we really have no choice. Well, yes we do but…The alternative is to give up, and I don’t know about you, but that is simply not an option for me.

We have all mourned loss in this global scenario, but can you see past the loss? Can you feel it?

We are being born.
