Restless

Are far off-places calling to you? They are to me. It’s been too long now since I traveled. My soul is crying out for relief from the doldrums…

I took the photo several years ago in Hong Kong, one of my favorite cities ever. It was fun riding the longest escalator in the world, shown here in my pic.

I’m ready to explore new places, and have some fun again. What are you yearning for lately?

Explorer Spirit,
the haunting call of my soul
to forge new frontiers.

Black & White & Rainbows

Right, wrong,
north, south,
black, white,
which way do I go?

I have walked the flat
gray plain of existence
that this third dimension
too often can be,
futilely exploring
the monotones of
an oft desolate place,
where each small
blade of grass shivers
sadly in the landscape,
calling out to the sky.

And I have wondered –
If white is all color,
and black its absence,
where are the colors between?

So I’ve left that plain
and I’m climbing
a shining mountain;
I will not rest ’til
I find all the colors,
that grand view above
a too narrow horizon.
The trek is exhilarating,
the views are breathtaking,
and I’m heading for that
brilliant peak yonder.

It’s the place of my dreams,
where rainbows gleam
and eagles soar,
and my soul can live free.

Cherish Life

Do you live each day of your life fully? We know we are mortal and life will sometime end, but we still tend to live as though we’ve been given an endless supply of days.

The seconds, minutes, and hours tick away relentlessly. If “no” is your answer to the question, you could make the decision right now to make the most of your life. Today is a good place to start.

Each day we are alive is a gift, and the present moment is the only certain one. There is beauty and sacredness to be found in every single day, when we choose to live that way. It’s the small things all around us all the time that give life its true magic.

It is crucially important that we live consciously and with intention, otherwise we end up living someone else’s idea of what our lives should be.

Wring every beautiful moment out of today that you can. Don’t miss out on anything that you could enjoy, embrace, love, or learn. Fully immerse yourself in life!

Unraveled

Society unravels before our eyes under the pressure of growing dissension and division. The integrity of the social fabric weakens as individual fibers become degraded. We (the fibers) feel displaced from normal, leaving us shaken, disoriented, internally coming apart at the seams.

We must try not to project our own inner unraveling outward. We each need to work at shaking off what divides us and move beyond this. When we recognize the strength within us, and that we also need each other, we will settle for nothing less than a great society, and we will work together to build it.

Inspirational Quotes:

“Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“You are never alone. You are eternally connected with everyone.” ~ Amit Ray

“The Destiny of Man is to unite, not to divide. If you keep on dividing you end up as a collection of monkeys throwing nuts at each other out of separate trees.” ~ T.H. White

“Pit race against race, religion against religion, prejudice against prejudice. Divide and conquer! We must not let that happen here.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Quest for Freedom

You are free when you believe you are. I know, this sounds too simplistic, yes? But think about it, you were born into this world as a free spirit soul. What changed? What convinced you that you are not free? Society? The rules? Your upbringing?

Freedom begins within ourselves. It is not something someone else gives to us. It is our inherent essence. It is a belief, a thought form, it resides in the deepest part of our souls. It is always there, but it can become very buried.

Ask yourself today, “Am I really free in my mind?” Be really honest with yourself. If freedom is important to you and your answer is no, perhaps it is time to ask yourself why. What are the thoughts that are holding you hostage?

Inspirational Quotes:

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.”
~ William Faulkner

“There is no force that can put an end to the quest for human freedom.”
~ Liu Xiaobo

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.”
~ Bob Marley

“Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves.”
~ Abraham Lincoln
