Life Is a Gift

It’s a blue sky day,
one of those
beauteous blueful,
joyously jocular,
splendidly splashy,
exceptional days ~
I long to shout
LIFE IS A GIFT
in big unmissable
letters across the
blue shiny yonder,
to imprint them
indelibly on your
mind, so you’ll…

Remember when
the dark clouds roll
in, on a day when
life feels pissy and
oh so problematic,
to take a deep breath,
and close your eyes,
and gently pull the
gray gloom aside,
to see those big
oh so true words
I etched on blue
for you, so that
you’d never forget…

Life is a gift.

Embracing Our Origins

I feel very connected to nature and the Earth. How about you? If I had my druthers, I would spend the rest of my days exploring her wild places.

I love the below quote by Edward Abbey, notable American author and essayist. I do believe when we connect to nature, we feel the pulse of our origins. We somehow got this idea that taller buildings and more technology define us as more civilized. I would tend to disagree… It feels to me like society is becoing more uncivilized by the minute.

When we reconnect to the Earth and respect her in a way that she deserves to be cherished, it will be a big step towards creating a healthier, more fulfilled and truly civilized society.

Our Essence is Freedom

There was a time in Hawaii – I will never forget it – when the ocean spoke to me of freedom. A storm was blowing in from Japan, and word in the community was that within a couple of days the surfing would be stellar. That same night, my partner and I awoke at midnight to the thunderous sound of pounding waves. We headed out immediately to check it out at a beach somewhat nearby.

This was one of the calmer beaches, not a surfer hangout. The waves were already spectacular! There were no man-made lights, save for several small dots twinkling way off in the far distance.

Uncommon Wild Beauty

When we arrived, the scene that lay before us took my breath away. The beach and the water were lit brilliantly by a magnificent full moon. Light clouds flitted in and out in the strong breeze. The rolling huge waves frothed white in the blazing moonlight, crashing wildly on the shore.

We took our shoes off and walked. The beauty and power of the scene were intoxicating, and my soul was unleashed in a way I had never experienced before.

Nature Speaks to our Essence

I felt what it means to be just a human being on the Earth, and the inherent freedom of my soul. For just a little while, the pulse of nature ran through me like a jolt of electricity. I felt the wildness and joy of my essence. I was completely alive, and I did not want that feeling to end.

The wild, untamed places discovered in my travels without fail have this affect; they speak to my soul. And I have come to understand this:

Our essence is freedom, and we must never let that go.

A quote about freedom from Shawshank Redemption:

“Sometimes it makes me sad, though… Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.”

Claim Your Bright Feathers

Too many people don’t realize that their feathers are too bright to be caged. When that changes, the world also will change. It’s time to claim your bright feathers, if you have not done so already.

All Is A Dream

Do you observe life and ask yourself, “What part of this is truly real?” The natural world is real, nature is real, you as an organic human being are real, but everything you observe around you in society is part of a contrived and enforced matrix.

Do you ever feel like you are simply existing in a program over which you have no control? The matrix of society is built on ever-shifting sand, where individuals at the top of the social hierarchy constantly make up new rules for those “beneath them”.

When I was a child, I had several recurring lucid nightmares that haunted me night after night, until my consciousness finally realized that I actually had the power to direct my dreams and change the outcome. When I came to that realization and experimented with it, the fear-induced dreams ended. Whatever part of my psyche that was susceptible to the fear was overruled by my deep  desire, and then intention, to overcome it.

Why is our awake time in this world any different? We can play victim to the fear spun in this authority and media contrived matrix, or we can decide that we will have intention to manifest a different outcome for ourselves.

What will be your dream of life today? Theirs, or yours?

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very
persistent one.”  ~ Albert Einstein

“I have realized that the past and future are
real illusions, that they exist in the present,
which is what there is and all there is.”
~ Alan Wilson Watts

“Normal is an illusion. What is normal for
the spider is chaos for the fly.”
~ Charles Addams

The Illusion of Civilized

As our buildings get taller and our computers faster, it seems that modern society is simultaneously sliding downward in terms of the fundamental life principles needed to build a truly great civilization. There are cultures we might label as “primitive” that have or had a much greater grasp of the ethics and integrity of a respectful and fulfilling society.

In the Star Trek series (there are several), there is a law of noninterference called “The Prime Directive”. It dictates that there be no interference with the natural development of any primitive society. In the Star Trek stories, the defining line is that another (alien) society must have achieved warp speed technology on their own before any contact can be made with them. These days I wonder what civilizations might be observing us and just shaking their heads. Observation of our incessant human wars could be one example.

“Sorry, we would really like to help you, we see you are floundering around and it is really painful to watch. But, you haven’t figured out certain basic things on your own yet… Give us a call when you get it.”

Inspirational Quotes:

“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” ~ Albert Einstein

“Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.” ~ Sigmund Freud

“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there would be peace.” ~ John Lennon

“When the enemy has no face, society will invent one.” ~ Susan Faludi
