Feel Nature’s Pulse

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for an important break.

A nature break, that is. Nature’s poetry brought to your doorstep. Breathe deeply, let go of the chaos and negativity in the news, and feel the gentle pulse of the sweet soul of the Earth. Steadfast and true, she waits for you…

Inspirational Quotes by John Muir:

“In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.”

210117a

“As long as I live, I’ll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I’ll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I’ll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can.”

210117b

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”

210117c

“Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality.”

210117d

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.”

210117e

“The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us. Thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing. The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as well as our souls, and every bird song, wind song, and tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountains is our song, our very own, and sings our love.”

Power of Positive Words

Our words and stories are powerful. We must be careful, because we have the ability to create a positive or negative reality with them.

Focusing on negative narrative keeps everyone’s minds confirming and expanding that reality. Have you noticed? Words used in the current COVID narrative too often leave us feeling weak, reliant, and disempowered. But, we’re not. This is just the story that has been thrust upon us, in this moment. We did not create it, but we are responsible if we choose to perpetuate it. We have the power to overcome this negativity with selective word and thought replacement.

Let’s Program Ourselves for the Positive

Start to create a positive narrative now, by actively using expansive and encouraging language. These words aren’t new; we all have them in our vocabularies. We’ve just been using them much less lately. How is this for a short list, just as a start?

Wellness
Love
Joy
Life
Birth
Creation
Beginnings
Beauty
Adventure
Playing
Cooperation
Abundance
Preparedness
Self-reliance
Independence
Celebration

When we use positive words, we raise our vibration and increase our power, as well as that of people around us. Positivity in our minds and hearts does affect the resiliency of our bodies. It keeps us in a healthier state holistically. We are then in a place of taking responsibility for our overall health, and, envisioning and creating a better future.

Taking responsibility for our words sounds simple, but it is not necessarily easy. It takes some practice and discipline, particularly when others around us try to engage us in the negative narrative. However, this is a fundamental way to exercise our own personal power to create positive change. We’ve got this!

Your Infinite Potential

Are you happy with where you’re at in your life right now? I know, 2020 put a real damper on that thing we call “happiness”. It does not help when the mass media constantly tells us we might as well forget real happiness any time soon; we “need to” hunker down and settle for thoughts grounded in limitation.

Consider this. It’s a new year and psychologically a clean slate (if we allow it to be). Waking up and honestly addressing the root of unhappiness is the first important step to changing it. It’s just too easy to gloss it over, or numb it with small pleasures. I’m seeing way too many “jokes” out there about the weight people put on eating junk food in 2020 to salve their misery.

This article outlines six factors that require just a little effort and are likely to increase your happiness quotient. If you don’t want to read the whole article, scroll to the bottom: The formula for a happy life…

The sky is not the limit. You are full of INFINITE possibilities. Big changes require baby steps. And the good feeling you get from a small change grows into desire to do more. It’s the ripple effect.

I’ve started a journal of my daily actions and successes, big and small, that contribute to my happiness and sense of fulfillment this year. What are you doing right now to move towards yours in 2021?

Inspirational Quotes:

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and openhearted vision of people who embrace life.”
~ John Lennon

“You learn something valuable from all of the significant events and people, but you never touch your true potential until you challenge yourself to go beyond imposed limitations.”
Roy T. Bennett

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
Muhammad Ali

“The choices you make now, the people you surround yourself with, they all have the potential to affect your life, even who you are, forever.”
Sarah Dessen

The Doorway 2021

Any new year can be a little daunting. There is all that self-assessment of the year past, and realizing that perhaps we didn’t accomplish quite what we intended 365 days ago. There is certainly some of that going on for me today.

BUT, in it I am also cutting myself some slack by realizing that life sometimes dishes out some unexpected surprises, and, we can’t always see into the future (and therefore plan for it) as well as we hope to. I love Isak Dinesen’s quote from Out of Africa, “God made the world round so we would never be able to see too far down the road.”

After all, are not the surprises, the unexpected twists and turns in the road, part of what makes life exciting and challenging? It is often the journey and our lessons that hold the most satisfaction, not the destination we think we want. From that point of view and in the fullness of time, 2020 may well prove to be one of our best years ever. It was a turning point like no other. It opened our eyes. It gave us some clarity.

The great realization is that even though I didn’t fulfill all my goals, I achieved enough to encourage me forward on my path. This year gifted me with clarity in the bigger picture of my purpose. That is huge! Today something deep within me whispers, “keep going”. I therefore will push forward with renewed determination, vigor, and vision, whilst making some alterations with my compass.

Every new year holds within it the potentiality and opportunity to create something completely new. If 2020 showed us nothing else, it is that we are ready for some big changes, and I mean that in a good way. The “same old, same old” just isn’t working for us any more.

What will be your vision of life for 2021? What are the thoughts, dreams, intentions, and actions today that will manifest your vision in the coming days? Your life is your story and no one else’s. Own your story. Do everything within your power this year to make it a beautiful and fulfilling one.

I wish for you the realization of your deepest dreams, and I look forward to sharing many more words with you in 2021. Happy New Year!

Grow Your Soul

We all experienced discouragement, and some of us even despair, in this peculiar year called 2020. This year was not “normal”, but in fact these feelings are always part of life. Perhaps it was heightened because we were feeling it collectively and globally. Every person we encountered became a potential mirror for our inner landscape.

We may not all recognize it yet, but the silver lining is that 2020 was a year of extreme soul growth. Our souls use obstacles and disappointments to learn and grow. When I look back at the most difficult challenges over my lifetime, I would not want to do them over. But when I evaluate the growth in myself, it has been tremendous. I am grateful for those soul lessons. I am stronger because of them.

When we are struggling in darkness, it can be difficult to see light. Other people can extend a loving hand, either with a different perspective, or, hands-on assistance. But in the end, we must own our inner journey. It is ours. It is we who develop the fortitude and mindset to deal with whatever life throws at us.

During one particularly tough time in my life, focusing on gratitude helped tremendously. That’s right! Really seeing and acknowledging all of the blessings, big and small, that surrounded me. I built on that. It created a positive mindset, in which I could then conceive of hope and possibilities and solutions.

Light begets light, and that which we focus on expands.
