Out of Darkness

A beautiful soul doesn’t just happen. All  of life’s trials and tribulations are seeds for soul growth, slowly shaping us into beings  of greater light.

2020 has been a year of darkness, but surely, gradually, the stars are revealing themselves. Always welcome the lessons; never stop reaching for the light.

Moments are Pearls

As with love, our happiness expands when we remove the conditions we attach to it. “I’ll be happy when…”

Yes, you likely will be, if that condition is your deep heart’s desire. But what if that certain condition does not come to fruition? What if that magic moment doesn’t arrive? And all those potential other magic moments while you were waiting for happiness to begin dissolved into the sands of time, unnoticed and unexplored.

The moment is now to claim your happiness. Happiness is a decision to see life in a certain way, knowing that every moment of it is a gift. Make the most of every pearl.

Many Voices

It’s time for real change, we can all see that. But, is humanity ready to do the real work
necessary to get “from here to there”? It seems that many want to bully others into submitting to their idea of a good society, rather than taking a cooperative approach.

We must resist the bullying and shaming. It’s essential that we ask our own questions, then listen to others and work cooperatively to achieve social solutions.

The Small Joys

Pearl S. Buck may have said it best: “Many people lose the small joys in the hope for the big happiness.” Perhaps this is one of the silver linings in the dark cloud of 2020. We have been forced to stand back from our normal ways, so we that may re-evaluate life.

I doubt any of us will ever again take for granted the simple pleasure of meeting face-to-face with a friend for a cup of coffee and a heart-to-heart chat. Of such humble threads is the richest fabric of life woven.

Choose to Fly

“Why prefer to crawl?” from Rumi’s quote below reminds me of the crabs in a bucket
mentality. In short, this behavior is observed in crabs when they are trapped together in a bucket. They will pull any one who tries to climb out of the bucket back down into it, ensuring that no one succeeds.

Observing people’s behavior lately on social media, I would say there is quite a lot of crab mentality being displayed. It’s very sad to see; we really should be pulling together. Humanity has many problems to work through right now, and it seems we are intent on attacking each other more than cooperating to succeed.

When are we all going to decide to soar and thrive, together? We are so much better than this.
