Clean and Bright

I met a baby recently whose beauty was as striking to me as a lightning bolt. Her innocent newness shone a light that was undeniable. She is still clean of any labels and branding that society will inevitably try to impose upon her. But when I met her, I intuitively felt that this is an old soul who will not accept anyone’s label. She came here knowing who she is.

That remains to be seen, of course. But suffice to say that “clean and bright”, even when momentary, is wonderful respite from a world where humanity has been branded as perpetually soiled by a virus. Tired in spirit are we becoming, because it seems that nothing any of us do will appease or release us from that label, at least in the eyes of those in power. The lesson here is to realize that we do not deserve the shaming or the fear, and to release ourselves.

Perhaps the craziness that has gripped the world will end before this child, and others like her, are old enough to realize what a messed up world they were born into. But I think this is likely wishful thinking, and I know it won’t matter, because she and others like her will take it calmly in stride. They knew what they were getting into. By choice their souls have come here to teach others by example.

These children will collectively shine their light on humanity into the future. They are seeds for the dawning of a new Golden Age, and the “Light That Is All” is smiling in anticipation.

What If / How Come

The trap of being a slave to conformity is a subject about which I write often. Perhaps Jodi Picout and I would have a lot to talk about over a cup of coffee or tea, if she and I were to meet.

Why ever try to fit in, when you are a unique and amazing human being? “Conformity” lacks imagination. It stifles our creativity. It starves our souls. It keeps us small.

Choose to live your magnificence.

“What if the puzzle of the world was a shape you didn’t fit into? And the only way to survive was to mutilate yourself, carve away your corners, sand yourself down, modify yourself to fit? How come we haven been able to change the puzzle instead? ~ Jody Picout, Small Great Things

Solace in the Storm

This morning as we drink coffee, my partner corresponds with a good friend of ours who is halfway around the world in Thailand. Our day is beginning; hers is coming to a close. How wonderful is it that we can communicate with our friends around the world?

I ask how she is. “A little sad, I think”, was the reply. I am reminded of how many people are struggling with “a little sad” (or even more than that) these days. I hope that his words helped her to find some solace, some comfort as she reflects on her day, life in general, and the fact that she has good friends halfway around the world who care.

My memories of Thailand in and of themselves bring me some solace, in a time when world travel has become so difficult. (Nothing should be this hard! Our world is way out of balance.) Of course, travel memories are just one example of solace for me.

What brings you solace and comfort, when these turbulent times get you down?

Inspirational Quotes:

“My heart, which is so full to overflowing, has often been solaced and refreshed by music when sick and weary.” ~ Martin Luther

“A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.” ~ E..B. White

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.” ~ Anne Frank

Intrinsic Worth

Experience and learning, love, and the people in your life are the gold. Your soul is the gold. YOU are the gold.

We live in a world that prays to the almighty money god. For many people, their idea of abundance is simply loads of money in the bank, and the ability to buy any THING they want. Money = happiness, or so they think. But is this true abundance? What have you invested in today that would still be with you tomorrow if your money disappeared overnight?

At the end of your life, in your soul’s journey and looking back from your deathbed, the things you accumulated will mean nothing. They will be simply material objects that accompanied you on your journey through life.

If you are not doing so already, invest in your inner soul growth. We all grapple with fear of loss if we were to make a decision that leads us down a wrong path. But most decisions are not life threatening; they are simply experiences we are choosing.

There arrives this magic moment (and too often in desperation) when we ask ourselves, “Why am I holding myself back this way? I feel there is more in me than this. I know that I could be happier than I am.”

There is a goldmine waiting to be tapped within you. Learning brings wisdom, and that is gold in your pocket, wealth of a different kind. When you do the work and the learning, your metamorphosis is inevitable.

Paradoxically, all those material things you yearned for will flow to you like a river. You will enjoy them, but they will no longer be something you need to be happy. The true happiness already came to you from within.
