Let Go of Judgment

“Imagine living your life without fear of being judged by others. You no longer rule your behavior according to what others think about you. You are no longer responsible for anyone’s opinion. You have no need to control anyone, and no one controls you, either.” ~ Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements

Judgment of others leads to a need to control others. “You must think, say, and do as I do, or you are not acceptable!”

The bigger point may be, “If you do not think, say, or do as I do, I fear that I am not acceptable or have made a wrong choice.” When we become secure in ourselves, we release the need to judge and control others. Think of how much precious energy we all expend on this type of behavior, to one degree or another!  What a waste…

Letting go of judgment is one of the most expansive things we can do for ourselves and others.

Castles in the Air

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

We need more dreaming as an antidote to the reality that is being thrust upon us. The people who are glued to their phones and mainstream news 24/7 are living someone else’s version of what life should be here on planet Earth. How could it be otherwise? What room do they have in their minds for autonomous thought? Our global society is being reshaped before our eyes, and phones coupled with mainstream media are a big tool for the programming.

Let’s go from dystopian to utopian, just for a moment. What are the higher principles that you would like to see more of right now? More love? More respect? More integrity? Higher principles are the foundation of any good society. If society is crumbling, it is because the foundation is rotting.

We need to start over with new and creative dreams, and from them build a new foundation for a new way of being. Where would you start?

Nature’s Inventions

People have become mesmerized by the idea of computer intelligence. Are we really so tired of ourselves that we would consider interfacing with technology to make humans more “perfect”? We have immense intrinsic potential that has not yet been explored. Leonardo da Vinci saw the pure perfection of nature, something that had been created by an intelligence greater than his own, but of course of which he was a fractal, as are we all.

Nature is both orderly and chaotic in its miracles of creation. Let’s NOT become more cold and robotic, so that we can figure out logically how to overcome and tame nature, and hence stray farther from who we are in the process.

But rather, let us feel the miracle we already are as part of nature, and our own wildness and infinite potential, so that our human consciousness may expand in a way that is naturally already there, just waiting to bloom.

Little by Little

When life feels too overwhelming to deal with, “poco a poco” (Spanish for “little by little”) is an excellent method to keep us moving forward. Also known in motivational circles as “chunking it down”, it’s a way of taking anything that feels insurmountable and down-sizing it to bite-size pieces.

Write down on paper whatever feels too daunting, then divide it into small pieces that feel manageable. Organize the pieces into a plan consisting of steps and stages, then immediately dig in and begin. Accomplishing that crucial first small step gives us enthusiasm and motivation to move on to the next one, then the next, and on it goes until that overwhelming monster is vanquished.

Lately I notice from social media comments that the world’s turmoil is immobilizing people from accomplishing even the simplest of daily tasks. “Little by little” is a way to overcome inertia and reclaim power over our lives.

This sense of empowerment gives us peace of mind, plus the confidence to envision and implement what we want for the future. We can’t let the problems of the world beat us, and “poco a poco”, we won’t!

Keep on Dreaming

Never let go of that glorious future for which you yearn. A strong vision and unwavering intention of your mind, galvanized by your passionate heart, can overcome what sometimes may seem to be insurmountable odds. Big dreams are achieved by those who are tenacious.

With your dreams, you are a creator of not only your own life, but you are a co-creator of the world around you. Who you are, what you believe in, has a ripple effect on everyone with whom you come in contact.

Dream big, and never let anyone steal your vision of the future. Without our dreams, what is life for and where would we be?

I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.” ~ Neil Gaiman

“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe

“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” ~ Roy T. Bennett
