Nature’s Inventions

People have become mesmerized by the idea of computer intelligence. Are we really so tired of ourselves that we would consider interfacing with technology to make humans more “perfect”? We have immense intrinsic potential that has not yet been explored. Leonardo da Vinci saw the pure perfection of nature, something that had been created by an intelligence greater than his own, but of course of which he was a fractal, as are we all.

Nature is both orderly and chaotic in its miracles of creation. Let’s NOT become more cold and robotic, so that we can figure out logically how to overcome and tame nature, and hence stray farther from who we are in the process.

But rather, let us feel the miracle we already are as part of nature, and our own wildness and infinite potential, so that our human consciousness may expand in a way that is naturally already there, just waiting to bloom.

Little by Little

When life feels too overwhelming to deal with, “poco a poco” (Spanish for “little by little”) is an excellent method to keep us moving forward. Also known in motivational circles as “chunking it down”, it’s a way of taking anything that feels insurmountable and down-sizing it to bite-size pieces.

Write down on paper whatever feels too daunting, then divide it into small pieces that feel manageable. Organize the pieces into a plan consisting of steps and stages, then immediately dig in and begin. Accomplishing that crucial first small step gives us enthusiasm and motivation to move on to the next one, then the next, and on it goes until that overwhelming monster is vanquished.

Lately I notice from social media comments that the world’s turmoil is immobilizing people from accomplishing even the simplest of daily tasks. “Little by little” is a way to overcome inertia and reclaim power over our lives.

This sense of empowerment gives us peace of mind, plus the confidence to envision and implement what we want for the future. We can’t let the problems of the world beat us, and “poco a poco”, we won’t!

Keep on Dreaming

Never let go of that glorious future for which you yearn. A strong vision and unwavering intention of your mind, galvanized by your passionate heart, can overcome what sometimes may seem to be insurmountable odds. Big dreams are achieved by those who are tenacious.

With your dreams, you are a creator of not only your own life, but you are a co-creator of the world around you. Who you are, what you believe in, has a ripple effect on everyone with whom you come in contact.

Dream big, and never let anyone steal your vision of the future. Without our dreams, what is life for and where would we be?

Inspirational Quotes:

It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” ~ Paulo Coelho

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.” ~ Neil Gaiman

“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe

“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” ~ Roy T. Bennett

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

“That which you believe becomes your world.”  ~ Richard Matheson

All Of a Sudden

All of a sudden, life changed for everyone on the planet in January 2020. We all know that, of course. But this started a trend that now too many major decisions that significantly impact our lives are “all of a sudden”. We have been trained to accept that always waiting for the next shoe to drop is normal. This kind of constant stress can actually lower our vibration, which is conducive to illness.

That next shoe is always dropped by a very small handful of people proportionate to the total population. For me, feeling constantly on edge has become the most troubling aspect of life. The reason? There does not seem to be much “big picture” analysis going on in the decision making. Our precious lives have been relegated by someone else to a constant state of worry and instability.

I could relay the most recent announcements from my little corner of the world – they have been upsetting – but what would be the point? In your corner the details may be a little or vastly different, but the big picture of the world is the same. And therein lies the problem, yes? Humans are prone to closing their eyes to outside problems if those problems don’t affect them. They prefer keep their heads in the sand as long as possible.

Perhaps the biggest change that occurred in 2020 is that no longer can any of us afford to be blind to events in another country, as long as it isn’t happening to us. Make no mistake, whatever is happening somewhere else right now has the potential to unfold in your own backyard.

We can hang on to the belief that suddenly the whole world went to hell in a hand basket because of a health threat, and that a small group of people constantly making new rules will save us. Or we can open our eyes wide, choose to see, and realize that we must take personal responsibility for our own lives.

This is one of the biggest lessons that humanity is learning as a collective right now.

From the Fringe

There are many advantages to being part of “the circle”, one big one being part of a community. People are becoming aware that they need their families, friends, and local communities now more than ever.

However, being outside of the circle does give one a perspective that cannot be attained any other way. Being inside is too conducive to the mindset of “following the crowd”, doing what everyone else is doing, because if they’re doing it, it automatically must be okay, right? Wrong. When did the human mind become this lazy?

Let’s face it, humans have been increasingly conditioned to not think for themselves. Certainly our education systems do not teach or encourage independent or critical thinking. In a locked down world our “permission” to move about, or not, increasingly makes it difficult to physically remove ourselves from the circle and gain that broader perspective.

So, what is one simple way that anyone can remove themselves from the noise of the circle?

Unplug from the phone, at least for some time every day. Phone addiction has become a disease, in and of itself.

If we don’t remove ourselves from the reinforcing thoughts of our peers and the media, when do we ever have time to get in touch with our own thoughts and feelings? I would wager that there are many who have a creeping feeling by now that society is not going in a good direction, but it’s just too easy to distract themselves and pretend it will all just go away, if they ignore it long enough.

No. It will not go away unless we start paying attention and intend for it to be different. One of the first ways anyone can take personal responsibility is to unplug from the incessant societal programming and give themselves time and space to think.
