When our Creator
gave us power to create,
what was the intent?
We are playing a
random game of chaos,
with no plan at all.
The mad scientists
concoct what they call progress –
Whose evolution?
Our human future
threatened by robotics, with
what repercussions?
Creativity
begs responsibility
to humanity –
How do we manage
an invention that could mean
our own extinction?

The next quote by Carl Sagan brings the first one into poignant focus:
“The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.”
This second quote by Carl Sagan brings the first one into poignant focus. Think about it, has the Earth ever been without conflict between one faction and another? This jewel of a planet is a prize, but to whom? Do we honestly think it is merely humans that want possession of it? Or is there a much bigger story unfolding than we imagine? Is full possession of human beings also the ultimate prize for some of the power hungry?
When you think of human, do you think humans are capable of the sort of cruelty that you see before your very eyes? What human wakes up in the morning thinking, “Gee, I think it would be a really great idea to bomb people in another country today”? No, we’re not. We’re thinking about our work, our families, how to build a life within all of this madness. We love. And there’s the crucial difference. We love.
It’s our love for our families, our love of life that keeps us sane and going. But will love sustain us through all of this forever? I suppose in the higher realms, yes. But what about here on Earth, right now? While madmen are threatening each other with atomic bombs, and building robots that they hope will overtake human civilization, where are we in the equation? To those “inhumans”, we are mere cannon fodder in the pursuit of their domination.
Carl Sagan was right. We are too caught up in the minutiae of our lives, and not paying attention to the bigger drama unfolding before us. Yes, I think our love has the power to save us, but not in some fairy tale, Pollyanna way. Spiritual warriors love, yes, but they are also prepared to defend that which they love, with eyes wide open.
There is a very good word, it’s a very short and powerful one, but much underused. That word is “No”.

If we didn’t have to spend so much time focusing on survival, would we spend more time on creative pursuits, and developing our own natural talents? Or is the question moot? Is technology slowly but surely reducing the human being to simply an observer of life?
The question is an important one, because the path we’re on may not be in the best interests of the growth of the human soul, and the real potential of the collective we call humanity.

There is a song out there that epitomizes a life philosophy, which if we all embraced it, would make the world a phenomenally better place. Somewhere along the way, society’s mandate for winning at life became about beating the other guy to “the goods”. Success started to mean a bigger house and more TVs.
But this song, when it wafted from the radio when I was a kid, spoke to me even then of how life should be. Make Someone Happy was written by Jule Styne, Adolph Green and Betty Comden, and first performed December 26, 1960. This song has never gone out of style – read the list of 100+ performers who sang it over 31 years – because although admittedly romantic in nature, it also expresses a fundamental truth about life.
When we are of service to others, when we are busy making someone else happy, we become happy too. Service to others is a core philosophy that humanity is working on understanding and adopting as a collective, in order that we may shift to a higher level of vibration.
Look around you. What something can you do today for someone you know (or a stranger) that would contribute to that person’s happiness, your own happiness in the doing of it, and the bigger picture of the growth of humanity?
Let’s bring some old-fashioned values back into style.

The way to happiness:
Keep your heart free from hate,

Science is logic based in fact, and scientists (such as Albert Einstein in the quote) question what has come before. In order to make groundbreaking advancements, a new idea is the basis for a hypothesis, which then must proven via usually extensive experimentation.
Intuitive people also question. Based on their gut feelings – “something doesn’t feel right here” – they watch for the spaces and incongruities (the holes, as it were) in what is being presented as absolute truth. They also do their own research instead of blindly accepting what is being put in front of them. This is called having discernment and using critical thinking.
We are living in times where increasingly we’re being told that we should not question. But not questioning will keep us in a stagnant state, and possibly also an ignorant one. If it really is the truth, it will stand the test of questioning, and if it’s not the truth, ultimately it will not.
So my question is, why aren’t more people questioning being told they should not question?
