Myth of Helplessness

Gradually a myth is being woven in society, day by day and strand by strand, that we are helpless and at the mercy of external fate. This is creating a world of diminishing returns, a black hole in our minds that will swallow us whole if we allow it to.

Every thought has the power to take hold in our minds and become reality. Be careful of the thoughts you adopt. We are not helpless until we believe we are.

Strength Quotes:

“We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.” ~ Veronica Roth

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” ~ J.K. Rowling

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” ~ Albert Camus

“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

The Earth Laughs

“The Earth laughs in flowers.” Wildflowers in a field, what a wonderful symbol of the joy of nature and our Earth! When I read Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words, I cannot help but smile inside. Flowers are special gifts that rejuvenate the spirit; their heady fragrances and gorgeous colors soothe our weary souls.

We need the uplifting power of nature now more than ever. The Earth is devoted and steadfast with her gifts. In a world that feels increasingly troubled and stressful, flowers help us reconnect to our inherent joyful soul center.

Inspirational Quotes:

“Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” ~ A.A. Milne

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.”
~ William Blake

“You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming.”
~ Pablo Neruda

“Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.”
~ Rumi

“Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it.”
~ Vincent van Gogh

“If you love a flower that lives on a star, it is sweet to look at the sky at night. All the stars are a-bloom with flowers…”
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

“If you love a flower, don’t pick it up.
Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love.
So if you love a flower, let it be.
Love is not about possession.
Love is about appreciation.”
~ Osho

Uncrushable Spirit

Someone once told me, “Music is part of the joy wave”. This is not hard to grasp, when you consider that each generation has its music, its sound, that special combination of notes, words and beat that resonate and speak to the heart and soul of the people.

Post WWII in Russia, there were citizens who risked their own personal freedom to bring music from the West to the people. It had been banned; only particular Russian music could be possessed and played. This is a story about more than music. It is one of freedom, and the will of the human spirit to overcome soul crushing oppression.

It’s a fascinating story, even if you’re not particularly a huge music lover. Rest assured, there is something that you love as much as they loved music, and that you would go to any lengths not to lose. You can read the story of Bone Music here:

Bone music: the Soviet bootleg records pressed on x-rays

In freer Western societies, it may be hard for people to comprehend not having the simple access to music they love. That basic freedom of choice just is. And yet, is it? Right now there is heated dispute about who should decide and dictate what people can think and say. I stand back from it and wonder, why is this even in debate? Were we not born with the inalienable right to think our own thoughts and express them freely?

Food for thought for your day.

2022: Year of Change

I predict that 2022 will be a year of startling revelations and the beginning of real change. What are your thoughts and feelings as you move into this fresh year?

Although I’m not one for saving my intentions solely for a new year, I do find myself thinking about things I most want to change that might have a positive effect on the state of our world right now.

Very high on my list is the intention to give small businesses my money and support more than ever and as much as I possibly can. I see the rise of control of government and corporations, and quite honestly, I find that disturbing. These institutions lack heart. Both will crush the “little person” when and if it suits them, and it appears to me that it suits them quite a lot lately.

Our strength and salvation, our exit from this stranglehold, will be found in the love, compassion, and cooperation we find with each other. That is why it is so important that we heal the division that has developed between us around the events of the past two years. I believe the division is being intentionally cultivated by the very institutions of which I speak. We will not survive this divided; we must come together in 2022.

I wish for you in 2022 all the happiness your hearts can hold. But of course, it is up to you to intend and create it. Happy New Year!

Inspirational Quotes:

“Of all sound of all bells… most solemn and touching is the peal which rings out the Old Year.” ~ Charles Lamb

“And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

For last year’s words belong to last year’s language, and next year’s words await another voice. To make an end is to make a beginning.” ~ T.S. Eliot

“A bridge of silver wings stretches from the dead ashes of an unforgiving nightmare to the jeweled vision of a life started anew.” ~ Aberjhani

2021: Year of Division

Lately I witness division all around me, and I wonder, “How much worse will it get?” That question can only be answered by us! The enemy that ravages society is not a virus, but it has gone viral. The plan of division in place is brilliant, really. Introduce the most deadly fear in the human psyche, fear of death, and watch the humans consume each other.

Humanity suffers greatly from “my ego need to be right”. As long as we force each other to choose sides and then attack each other for those choices, there will never be any meeting ground for healing and building. We will constantly be stuck in a cycle of tearing down, doomed in a fatal downward spiral to a black void.

Imagine a time in future when aliens visit Earth, a beautiful place lush with flora and fauna, but strangely void of other life forms. In their exploration of this lovely planet, they come upon a huge headstone that reads,

“Here lies Humanity. Sadly, they killed each other with their need to be right.”

Personally this is not a future vision that I want to see manifest. As Rumi said,

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing, there is a field.
 I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.”

Yes, we could make that choice to meet there, together. Imagine everyone on the same side, a unified commitment to constantly see, evaluate, and discuss many points of view, without judgement or a need to “have it all my way” or attack.

It would be a beginning… Let’s make it our intention for the New Year 2022.
