Take a Nature Break

Happy Sunday, and today I bring nature’s poetry to your doorstep. Breathe deeply, let go of any stress of the past week, and feel the gentle pulse of the sweet soul of the Earth. Steadfast and true, she waits for you…

Inspirational Nature Quotes from John Muir:

“In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.”

210117a

“As long as I live, I’ll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I’ll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I’ll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can.”

210117b

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”

210117c

“Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality.”

210117d

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.”

210117e

“The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us. Thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing. The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as well as our souls, and every bird song, wind song, and tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountains is our song, our very own, and sings our love.”

Why Would I?

Why would I want
to be like
everybody else?
Ever?
By some miracle
of Creation,
I am unique,
I came here to
make my own
contributions to
life, society,
and humanity.

If you and I
think like
everybody else,
we all become
a goopy,
boring,
stagnant,
uncreative,
unproductive,
homogenized,
mishmash of
conformist
hive minds
wearing the same hat.

Why would I?
Why would you?

Fabrications

Society used to
be built on
the character of
the people who
wove the fabric.

Integrity,
Honesty,
Hard Work,
Relationships,
and Vision.

These were the
vital strands
woven into the
warp and weft of
our world.

Now society is
fabricated on
voices in thin air,
virtual words with
empty promises.

We want that
world back,
a place where
strong character’s
substance reigns.

But wanting and
deciding are
two unlike things,
one is a wish,
the other intent.

Nothing comes
for free, and
everything worth
anything is still
worth the work.

Dream a New Dream

Madness engulfs us,
teetering at the abyss,
we may lose it all –
The tightening noose
is choking our happiness,
how to thrive in this?

If this is a dream
it’s humanity’s nightmare,
we can choose to wake –
Our souls are the gold,
don’t sell them for promises,
we have the free will.

The sky’s the limit,
our blue-sky imaginings
will seed our new dream –
Let’s breathe, take a step,
walk away from the madness,
and never look back.
