Earth has Her Moods

For many years I have practiced daily walking outdoors. These quiet, meditative times allow me to relax and escape my monkey mind cage.

Daily walking requires a certain self-discipline, because realistically every day does not offer “perfect weather”. (We all have our own definition of that. If we didn’t, people wouldn’t talk about the weather so much!) I have walked in cold, rain, snow, and gloom as much as I have enjoyed sunshine and bright, shiny walks. I have come to love all of it.

Here’s the thing: I love sunshine as much as the next person, and when we’re feeling down, the sun can be a real mood lifter. But depending on what I’m dealing with in my day, sunshine can feel like a good friend trying to jolly me out of my problems, rather than allowing space for my mood.

My observation over the years is that those moody, rainy, snowy, cloudy days also have their own merit for solitude and introspection. They are the perfect back drop to quiet my conscious mind. There I inevitably find the space for the true answers to come through from my subconscious.

Rain or shine, nature is my therapy. Without fail, I find the beauty, grace, quiet and solitude I need to transcend the rat race.

Moods

Sky dons her mood face,
sulking clouds mirror my mind,
silent I reflect.

Rejuvenate

When city voids me,
I flee to garden refuge.
Hummingbird dances.

Watchers & Doers

The watchers watch on,
while the doers do,
it’s  been that way for
an eon, or two.

But the world’s changing,
and crumbling, yes,
it’s one more cycle
we must do, I guess.

When it all falls down,
and we see the mess,
who will fix Dumpty?
Not sure, I confess.

Surely not watchers,
they’d watch to their fill,
if they could manage
to play their game still.

This world will be fixed
by those who will work,
there won’t be room for
for those who would shirk.

A broom and hammer
for each of us, we
will clean and construct,
that’s called industry.

Black & White & Rainbows

Right, wrong,
north, south,
black, white,
which way do I go?

I have walked the flat
gray plane of existence
that this 3rd dimension
too often can be,
futilely exploring
the monotones of
an oft desolate place,
where each small
blade of grass shivers
sadly in the landscape,
calling out to the sky.

And I’ve wondered –
If white is all color,
and black its absence,
where are the colors between?

So I left that plane
and I’m climbing
a shining mountain;
I will not rest ’til
I find all my colors,
that grand view above
a too narrow horizon.
The trek is exhilarating,
the views are breathtaking,
and I’m heading for that
brilliant peak yonder.

It’s the place of my dreams,
where rainbows gleam
and eagles soar,
and my soul can live free.

Journey

River winding to
the sea, my soul searches for
answers in ripples.

It’s Your Journey

You are the captain of your destiny, but only if you choose to be. The matrix of society will try to shape your mind and your future, if you are not careful about the thoughts to which you subscribe.

Increasingly we are lead to believe in the societal matrix that we are helpless victims of fate, that someone else should create our reality, that we have no wisdom or personal power to shape it. We are taught that the problems are too big for us to fix, so let an external authority take care of it.

Start to be more self-observant and analyze the messages being delivered to your mind daily. Do they make you feel personally empowered? Do you feel and believe they are leading you down a road where you could feel truly fulfilled and happy in your life?

The life you are living is a result of your thoughts. If the thoughts that dominate your mind and the reality you see before your eyes no longer resonate with your true desires, figuratively (or literally) pack your bag and set out to create the life you want.

This is YOUR life journey, no one else’s, so make sure it’s a road of your choosing.

“The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it’s all that matters.”
