Light the World

The battle between the dark and light is a classic theme in many of our greatest stories, and in fact we each have our own shadow sides with which we grapple.

Is it my imagination though, that our world is feeling just a tad weighted to the dark side at the moment? When I feel discouraged about it, I take solace in this: In every cycle of this classic battle throughout the ages and when a crisis of the dark occurs, humanity digs down deep to find the best parts of itself. The darkness collapses and light emerges.

Every candle makes a difference, including you, and me, and every other person on the side of the light. It’s time to put our thinking towards how we’ll make this world a good place. We as individuals can choose to write the story we will live. If we don’t exercise our free will and choose, someone else will write our story for us.

We must envision the world we want, and then intend and contribute to it. We must not get distracted by or caught up in the story someone else is trying to write for us. To ensure that our vision of life is written, we all must get in the game and start creating it now, action by intentional action.

Whether you believe it or not, the fate of the world rests partly in your own hands. Find, nourish, and live all the light within you that you can. Be a light for the world.

Crimson Reverie

Friends send word
that it’s a stellar
autumn back home,
punctuated with pics
of unimaginable
flushes of perfect
color, ringing against
deep blue skies,
nudging my heart
to impossible
yearnings…

For long luxurious
walks scented
by Nature’s turning,
the poignant musk of
her full fruition,
apricot and crimson
ablaze with sunlight,
her dazzling glow
embracing me,
bending my mood
and contemplation.

Who ever could feel
tired or defeated
on such days?

I felt naught
but goodness and
rightness on these
halcyon treks,
Nature teaching me
the natural way
of everything –
It is not death,
but a tender
“see you later”,
only to rise up
again, transformed
in sweet green,
bidding me “hello”,
begging me to
walk and talk
of possibilities,
plans, the rebirth
of everything,
including me.

But just for awhile,
how my heart longs
to stroll once again
‘neath that crimson.

Polishing Your Mirror

“If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?” ~ Rumi

Have you noticed the way that some experiences seem to repeat themselves in your life? You become irritated and perhaps even angry, wishing they would just “go away”. But here’s the rub…

When we resist our lessons, they simply come around again in another form. Learn it now or learn it later, it’s your choice. If you choose later, the lesson will likely be more extreme, until you just cannot ignore any more that it is something you are trying to learn.

When we become wise enough to see that life is not just “happening to us”, but that we attract the experiences and lessons we need to grow our souls, then it becomes somewhat smoother. The head bashing stops.

Observation and reflection are key to beginning to unlock and solve our life lessons.

Why Would I?

Why would I want
to be like
everybody else?
Ever?
By some miracle
of Creation,
I am unique,
I came here to
make my own
contributions to
life, society,
and humanity.

If you and I
think like
everybody else,
we all become
a goopy,
boring,
stagnant,
uncreative,
unproductive,
homogenized,
mishmash of
conformist
hive minds
wearing the same hat.

Why would I?
Why would you?

Wholly

Living life wholly, fully, completely,
is a process of learning,
with full awareness
and reverently,
for life IS holy –
I don’t mean religiously,
but yes, spiritually,
and respectfully
of all of Life,
not sacrificially
of yourself,
your own soul,
your learning,
but cooperatively
with humanity,
compassionately,
understandingly,
gracefully,
lovingly,
becoming
wholly
One.
