In a World Rearranging

There are times when the world is rearranging itself. And at times like that, the right words can change the world. ~ Orson Scott Card

What if some of the right words are slipping through the cracks of censorship? How would we know?

And the bigger question for me right now is, do most people even care?

If we as individuals commit to a society where we take responsibility for our own words (that is, we are not going out to willfully hurt others with them), then we and our words will sort themselves out. Do we need “parenting” by an external authority?

Moonstruck

Sweet silver vision,
dark mirror prince kisses you,
wooing the Goddess.

What else evokes romance that is quite like moonlight? I speak not simply of love or lust, but also the quicksilver beauty of everything the Goddess touches.

She works her spell, reviving the mystery and magic of life. Just as the Sun nourishes and energizes, the Moon soothes and sparks our dreams.

No wonder the lake prince adores her. Which does make me wonder, does she love him in return, or just herself in his mirror?

“A lake is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.” (Henry David Thoreau)

City

Can you imagine living in Tokyo? When I think of Japan, I long to see the cherry blossoms in spring… “Patient, nature waits.”

Escape

Beyond the babel,
my bliss, beauty, sacredness,
soul cradled in calm.

Tick-tock Madman

That round evil man
with his shallow pretty face
leers from my wall.
Cruelly and incessantly,
he chips away at my life
with his sharp little pick-axe.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

My days mete out
in an endless dribble of
tasks and responsibilities,
and he watches me.
Be on time, get it right!
Get up again, do it again.
and again, and again, and again.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

I thought he was my friend
that insidious little man,
Mom said he was!
Just dress for success,
always be on time,
and your life will be right.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Then one day I woke up
and my life felt all wrong.
Where are my dreams
you cunning little man?
You stole them while
I toiled to your

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Oh poacher of my hours!
Is there time for me?
Still hope for me?
The Me you took while
I played by the rules,
always obeying time.

And that smug little man
with his false pretty face
just stares coldly at me
from his unfeeling wall.
Silent he is, but for
the relentless

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Birthright

Freedom is that thing
you were born with, is your right.
It lives in your soul.

Deep inside yourself, do you believe this? Or has society convinced you of something different?
