Black & White & Rainbows

Right, wrong,
north, south,
black, white,
which way do I go?

I have walked the flat
gray plane of existence
that this 3rd dimension
too often can be,
futilely exploring
the monotones of
an oft desolate place,
where each small
blade of grass shivers
sadly in the landscape,
calling out to the sky.

And I’ve wondered –
If white is all color,
and black its absence,
where are the colors between?

So I left that plane
and I’m climbing
a shining mountain;
I will not rest ’til
I find all my colors,
that grand view above
a too narrow horizon.
The trek is exhilarating,
the views are breathtaking,
and I’m heading for that
brilliant peak yonder.

It’s the place of my dreams,
where rainbows gleam
and eagles soar,
and my soul can live free.

From Mother Nature & Wordsworth

Three writings today to demonstrate the fleeting nature of life, and how it is oh-so important to embrace this moment. First, a message from Mother Nature:

Then some words from the inestimable William Wordsworth. He would surely also tell you, delight in the day, live fully today:

“What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, or glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind."

~ William Wordsworth

Message in a Bottle (Susan L Hart)

Chisel not my name
onto elegant stone,
so you that I love
might become slave
to a time and place
that no longer holds
my soul, to which you
could become tied,
lost in sorrow and
life’s limitations.

Rather, joyfully cast
my dust to the wind, so
I may dance on the breeze,
and one day as the leaves
rustle gently overhead,
you will feel me there,
riding a ray of sunshine
kissing your face, and
I’ll whisper in your ear,
“Remember to live free.”

It’s Your Journey

You are the captain of your destiny, but only if you choose to be. The matrix of society will try to shape your mind and your future, if you are not careful about the thoughts to which you subscribe.

Increasingly we are led to believe in the societal matrix that we are helpless victims of fate, that someone else should create our reality, that we have no wisdom or personal power to shape it. We are taught that the problems are too big for us to fix, so let an external authority take care of it.

It’s important to be self-observant and analyze the messages being delivered to your mind daily. Do they make you feel personally empowered? Do you feel and believe they are leading you down a road where you could feel truly fulfilled and happy in your life?

The life you are living is a result of your thoughts. If the thoughts that dominate your mind and the reality you see before your eyes no longer resonate with your true desires, figuratively (or literally) pack your bag and set out to create the life you want.

This is YOUR life journey, no one else’s, so make sure it’s a road of your choosing.

Life Is a Gift

It’s a blue-sky day,
one of those
beauteous blue-full,
joyously jocular,
splendidly splashy,
exceptional days –
I long to shout
LIFE IS A GIFT
in unmistakable
letters across the
blue shiny yonder,
to imprint them
indelibly on your
mind, so you’ll –

Remember when
the dark clouds roll
in, on a day when
life feels pissy and
oh so problematic,
to take a deep breath,
and close your eyes,
and gently pull the
gray gloom aside,
to see those big
oh so true words
I etched on blue
for you, so that
you’d never forget –

Life is a gift.

The Abyss

A new poem today. I’ve been away for a few days. I hope you are enjoying summer 🙂

Sorry, I’m on the phone

Window

All day long I see
people looking down at phones,
what a boring view!

Please, let me see a
whisper of what makes you tick,
your eyes, and your smile.

There are many ways
to set a trap; this one is
brilliant in concept.

What is to become
of humans, and these days I
wonder if they care?

And how would I know?
They say the window to the
soul is in the eyes.

So many eyes now
slaves to a tiny window,
captured by a screen.

Look up, please look up,
I want to connect with what
is real and human.

But do you?

Am I lost, or are they? I just don’t get it, all that time glued to a phone. Perhaps I am a relic, someone who does not belong in this “modern world”. Or, perhaps I am a lifeline, so some people can realize there is more to life than that world within the little window. Maybe we’re all feeling a little lost these days, in this crazy mixed up world, and they are looking for answers there. I would say to those ones who might feel lost, let up some on the time spent there, and start looking within yourself.

Here’s the thing. There is some valuable stuff to be found on our phones, so they have their place, but there is a lot that isn’t, too. While our minds are constantly absorbed by someone else’s ideas, we do not have time for that most important of activities. IMAGINATION

I suggest that the power of imagination is one of the important tools that will release us from the suffering and the control on this planet right now. How much time are you spending on imagining what could be, rather than reading about the problems in the world on your phone? They (the ones currently running things in society) want to make us feel powerless, when nothing could be farther from the truth. However, we have to start imagining our own idea of what a good life and society look like, and create a new future for ourselves. Together.

A quote by Albert Einstein, apparently from an interview that was published in The Saturday Evening Post:

“I believe in intuitions and inspirations. I sometimes feel that I am right. I do not know that I am. When two expeditions of scientists, financed by the Royal Academy, went forth to test my theory of relativity, I was convinced that their conclusions would tally with my hypothesis. I was not surprised when the eclipse of May 29, 1919, confirmed my intuitions. I would have been surprised if I had been wrong.”

“Then you trust more to your imagination than to your knowledge?”

“I am enough of the artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
