The Trees Weep

The willow weeps,
the pine trees moan,
all Nature’s feeling it,
deep to the bone.

Humans out of sync,
not hearing their hearts,
the soul of the Earth’s
being torn apart.

“Technology’s call
mesmerized them all,
and why can’t they see,
their hate is a wall?”

The mountains watch,
their strength eons old,
the oceans too have
seen centuries unfold.

They will endure, but
will humans be here?
“It seems they don’t care,
they don’t hold us dear.”

The eleventh hour
draws swiftly nigh,
trees watch us, crying,
“Will this be goodbye?”

How Much Loss?

When the day comes,
and come it will
if we don’t stop,
when we finally
stand together
much too late,
to view in horror
the destruction
we have wrought,
it was all for naught,
when all we had
to do was lay
down our arms
and demand that
our governments
stop warring too,
and decide once
and for all that
building is better
than tearing down,
then we’d begin
the upward spiral,
when will it start?

Maybe we have
not lost enough
yet to recognize
the stupidity, no…
the absolute
horror of it all.

Birthing

230330

How did humanity
arrive at this place?
Almost overnight,
viral war torn,
scarred, skeptical,
frazzled, frightened,
lonely isolation,
madly missing
the joy of life.

Humanity’s vitality
slowly but surely
leaking away,
drained by a
lurking thieving,
deceitful beast,
gluttonous gorger
swallowing whole
all who yield.

But the wheel of
fortune ever turns,
the black jar of
Pandora’s woes
morphs to womb
of fathomless
mother goddess
of a Golden Age,
a new humanity.

It’s time to birth
transformation
from destruction;
swimming upwards
to shimmering light,
gulping great drafts
of rarefied air,
reclaiming life and
eager to live it.

Fabrications

230329

Society used to
be built on
the character of
the people who
wove the fabric.

Integrity,
Honesty,
Hard Work,
Relationships,
and Vision.

These were the
vital strands
woven into the
warp and weft of
our world.

Now society is
fabricated on
voices in thin air,
virtual words with
empty promises.

We want that
world back,
a place where
strong character’s
substance reigns.

But wanting and
deciding are
two unlike things,
one is a wish,
the other intent.

Nothing comes
for free, and
everything worth
anything is still
worth the work.

By Your Grace

Dear Pachamama,
it’s unnerving when
you roil and rant,
rattling your saber –
An empty threat?
I feel Earth slide,
my life tenuous
beneath my feet.

Tornadoes & floods,
hail & hurricanes,
this earthquake
another reminder
that we live always
by your grace,
so better live now,
tomorrow’s uncertain.
