A World of Questions

230503

Science is logic based in fact, and scientists (such as Albert Einstein in the quote) question what has come before. In order to make groundbreaking advancements, a new idea is the basis for a hypothesis, which then must proven via usually extensive experimentation.

Intuitive people also question. Based on their gut feelings – “something doesn’t feel right here” – they watch for the spaces and incongruities (the holes, as it were) in what is being presented as absolute truth. They also do their own research instead of blindly accepting what is being put in front of them. This is called having discernment and using critical thinking.

We are living in times where increasingly we’re being told that we should not question. But not questioning will keep us in a stagnant state, and possibly also an ignorant one. If it really is the truth, it will stand the test of questioning, and if it’s not the truth, ultimately it will not.

So my question is, why aren’t more people questioning being told they should not question?

There’s still time today to celebrate the arrival of May flowers (yesterday’s post) with a free copy of my ebook Our Beautiful Earth. It’s not normally free, so please take advantage of the opportunity today. Download it here.

Feel the Joy of Our Earth

230502

Yay, May is here again! (How did that happen so quickly?) This is a re-post of one of my very favorite quotes and thoughts – the joy of our Earth and nature expressed through flowers. If April washes away the weariness of winter, the flowers of May herald the return of color, the blooming of our souls. No doubt there are many quotes and tributes to flowers, but Emerson’s words are still a favorite for me. Nature delights in delighting us ~ Here are my words from 2 years ago:

“The Earth laughs in flowers.” Wildflowers in a field, what a wonderful symbol of the joy of nature and the Earth! When I read Emerson’s words, I cannot help but smile inside. They lift my heart, for flowers are a precious gift. Their heady fragrances and gorgeous colors soothe our aching souls.

We need the healing power of nature now more than ever. The Earth is devoted and steadfast with her gifts. In a world that feels increasingly troubled, flowers help us reconnect to our inherent joyful soul center.

If you made it this far, today I am giving away free copies of my ebook Our Beautiful Earth to celebrate what I think is the real beginning of spring – the arrival of May and her flowers. 🙂

Voice, and Thank You

Saying what others might be thinking, but are unable to say, is something I strive for every day with my writing. And if my well is dry on a particular day – it’s not that often – I search for and share the words of writers who came before me, ones who have inspired readers across the ages. Their words are timeless.

Writing in tempestuous times, and if you are speaking about anything that could be construed as controversial (isn’t that just about everything these days?), then putting down the words, and publishing them too, takes courage.

Perhaps if everyone knew the courage it takes for any creative person to bare their soul publicly, there would be more respect and appreciation for it in society. As we are not there yet, it therefore also takes a great deal of faith and tenacity to be a writer.

Courage and tenacity are challenges I accept willingly. What I would find impossible to bear is futility. I struggle with the concept of Likes, because good writers must let go of the need for approval. Having said that, those little faces and symbols at the bottom of the page (as well as the “faceless” readers who appear in my stats), sure do help to keep me going, so thanks. 🙂
